A decade in love

Ten years ago today I can honestly say was one of the best days of my life.  I married my best friend.  I remember so much about that special day but yet so many of the small memories have slowly slipped away only to be remembered in conversation or looking at pictures.  Kinda like a dream, when you awake you remember almost all of it, playing it over and over again in your head, then as the days, weeks, years pass those small moments slowly fade, only to be remembered by a song, a smell, a picture...  Those memories that fade are not gone forever.  I think they are the best kind.  The ones that when you do remember them they come flooding in and hit you like a heavy wave.  Bring many emotions with it.  Like the small of the vanilla votive that sat burning on our head table, like the song we all shook what our mama's gave us to, the sunset we snuck out to see & capture on film, the last min phone call to the hotel, because we forgot to book a room.  Here are some of my memories....

I remember being young, naive, beautiful and so in love.  I remember being so nervous I couldn't eat, I remember getting ready at my parents house in my old room, looking out the back window, I watched the chairs fill up, people hurrying along, people laughing.  I remember it being so beautifully warm.  I remember thinking "is this really happening?"  I remember standing and waiting for my music to start and I remember walking down the aisle with my parents in tow.  I remember meeting eyes with Corey, feeling like we were the only ones there, it was just us.  We were the only ones that mattered.  I remember reading my vows and listening carefully to his.  I remember my sister crying so loudly, I laughed.  I remember our kiss, our first kiss as a husband and wife.  Wow what a day.  A day I will never forget.

So much has conspired since that lovely day, not only did we begin a life together we promised to live that life to the fullest through thick and thin, and we have had our fair share of bad life altering but in amungst those we have had more good, great.
We welcomed two beautiful baby girls, each one with their own set of personalities a mixture of the best of Corey and I.  Both so beautiful in their own special ways.  Nevaeh is a bubbly little girl with energy that could make anyone tired just watching her.  She is smart and loving,  she is a daddy's girl witha strong love for her mama.  Now she has a baby sister to love and man does she have a lot of love to share.

Maëlle is beautiful with a smile that could light the wettest log of wood on fire, she has a very serious side to her.  You know she is watching you and thinking.  She is growing so fast and so strong and not only physically but mentally and emotionally.  For such a little person she fills our hearts and home with so much love.  And that love like with both of my girls will continue to grow as they do.
I am so thankful for them.  And I have only Corey to thank for that.  We have an amazing little family. (we did good, hunny)

We don't have the most perfect relationship, we have disagreements and little fights, we argue, and roll our eyes at each other, there are things that bug the heck out of him,  And there are things he does that bugs me also.  But we get over it, we apologize, we make it right.  We listen to each other and we always say "I love you"  We never leave the house without a kiss, and I don't think we have ever left mad.  And with that our relationship grows stronger, better.

Today life is much different then it was back then.  We no longer sleep in or go out to movies, we trip over toys that have been played with, we listen to kids music all the time and we have children's channels stored as favorites.  We never leave with out a sippy cup, or crackers.  It no longer take us 30 mins to get out the door anymore, we now pack the night before and it still takes us over an hour.  We have a busy life, filled with lots of hugs, kisses and love.  We will teach our girls what love is all about, and we will continue to love each other the way we deserve to be loved for another 10 years.

Corey,

You have shown me nothing but love and attention, you have given me the most amazing memories, you have always been there for me no matter what.  You are one of the most important people in my life.  Looking back at our 10 years of marriage I don't think there is one thing I would do different.   My love for you has grown so strong over the last decade.  And will continue.

You are an amazing dad who's love for his girls is undeniable.  You would give your life for them.  When I see you with our girls love radiates from your eyes, your smile is the brightest I have ever seen.  In turn makes my love for you grow stronger.

I truly look forward to many, many more years with you by my side.  I dream about us sitting in our rocking chairs holding hands watching our grandchildren and hopefully great grandchildren run and play.  I look forward to living out my life with you by my side.
